Burkina Faso’s Economy to Grow 4.4%, Led by Farming, IMF Says
Burkina Faso’s economy will probably expand 4.4 percent this year, boosted by agriculture and mining, the International Monetary Fund said.
Growth is expected to rebound from 3.2 percent in 2009, the IMF said in a statement on its Web site. The budget deficit will probably reach about 5 percent of gross domestic product this year, while inflation will ease to below 3 percent, the fund said.
Burkina Faso met targets set by the IMF as part of an Extended Credit Facility and the lender’s board will probably consider a new funding program for the West African nation in June, the IMF said.
